July 27, 2002 Canoeing on the Flint River

The troop went canoeing down the Flint River and then camped afterward.  The trip was fun overall although the river was mostly calm and slow.  There was one place where most of the canoes did end up going under, however.  The trip included a swim call near the end of the paddling and some great food at the end.  That evening, Mr. Flynn showed the boys how to hunt spiders and all who participated were amazed at how well that worked.  We were adopted by both a dog and a cat that were wandering through, mostly looking for tidbits to eat.  And, of course, did I mention that the food was great! :-)
